Catalyst’s financial innovations have spawned California’s first governmental entity focused exclusively on middle-income housing production. This entirely new asset class, which we’ve titled Essential Housing, provides desperately-needed affordable housing to California’s essential middle-income workforce – the nurses, teachers and first responders (among others) that earn too much to qualify for traditional affordable housing yet not enough to live directly within the communities they serve.
